Expert Tips

There are tons of Slow Cooker Dessert Recipes out there—I’m just late to the game! When life gets chaotic, more folks make slow cooker recipes. I was inspired to research crockpot dessert options. When I found a gooey, intensely chocolate slow cooker brownie dessert recipe, I was sold.

  • Choose the best size and shaped slow cooker for your needs.
  • Some recipes call for a baking dish to be placed in the crockpot, so check the measurements of the insert before you purchase a crockpot if you plan to bake in it.
  • Line your insert with nonstick foil for easy cleanup.
  • Use oven mitts to remove the brownies. The insert will be hot!
  • You can put the crockpot on warm and serve right from the appliance. But your dessert will continue to cook from the residual heat.
  • Crockpot brownies will have a different texture from oven brownies. There is no place for the steam to escape which makes them very moist.
  • After three hours, these brownies were ready to eat. They’re perfect for tailgating at home or any gathering where your oven is already in use. If you are a fan of chocolate, you will be thrilled with this crockpot brownie dessert.

How to Serve

Rich, soft, with chunks of melted semi-sweet chocolate, these brownies exceeded my expectations. Crock pot desserts may win no beauty contest, but that’s not the point, is it?

  • A little smoke and mirrors by serving it with a scoop of cold vanilla ice cream and a couple of berries and mint sprig, turn this delicious mound of chocolate decadence into a beautiful dessert. And do I even have to mention the marvelous scents emanating from my kitchen while this cooked?
  • Some lightly sweetened whipped cream would also be delicious.
  • Make sure to serve them warm. Leftovers can be gently warmed in the microwave, but be careful not to overcook.

Frequently Asked Questions

But have you ever thought of making a dessert in your crockpot? This Slow Cooker Apple Crisp is another easy recipe!

Can You Bake in a Slow Cooker?

Yes! This brownie dessert is just one example of how to bake in a crockpot. You will need to cook on high and only fill your dish halfway (if using a baking pan). It frees up your oven and keeps your kitchen cool.

Is It Safe to Put Foil in a Slow Cooker?

Definitely. It helps with cleanup and doesn’t affect the results. I like using nonstick foil.

Can the Slow Cooker Be Left On Overnight?

Read your manual. Many say it’s safe to leave it on for 8-24 hours. It will depend on your model. If you have a hand-me-down, older crockpot, you may want to save your slow cooking for daytime hours.

What’s the Difference Between a Slow Cooker and a Crockpot?

Crockpot is a name brand and Slow Cooker is the category of appliances that includes Crockpots and other brands.
