Glazed Chocolate Tart
This Glazed Chocolate Tart has 3 chocolate components: Chocolate graham cracker crust, rich chocolate filling and luscious chocolate ganache.
I took this Chocolate Ganache Tart to a teachers’ luncheon back in 2011, and not a crumb remained when I took home my cake stand!
Glazed Chocolate Tart Recipe
This Glazed Chocolate Tart was the second dessert I made for Nick’s teachers’ holiday luncheon…he’s a senior and this is my 8th and final year of volunteering at Cathedral High School…sniff, sniff. A decadent chocolate option is always in order when it comes to desserts…they’re usually the first to disappear from a buffet of sweets. I also made this lemon pavlova for those few who go for citrus over chocolate.
You should have seen the long faces when the family figured out this tart wasn’t for them! This marvelous chocolate wonder may make an encore appearance as our Christmas dessert. This Ganache Topped Chocolate Tart is another winner (especially if you can’t find chocolate graham crackers!).
Ganache Topped Chocolate Tart
A lovely chocolate tart topped with a rich chocolate ganache!
Ingredients
For the crust:
- 9 chocolate graham crackers, finely ground (1 cup of crumbs)
- 5 tablespoons butter, melted
- ยผ cup sugar
For the filling:
- 1 ยผ cups cream
- 9 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 2 eggs, at room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ยผ teaspoon salt
For the glaze:
- 2 tablespoons cream
- 1 ยพ ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon light corn syrup
- 1 tablespoon warm water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- To make the crust, stir together all the ingredients and press evenly onto the bottom and up the side of a greased 9-inch tart pan.
- Bake for 10 minutes. Cool on a rack for about 20 minutes
- To make the filling, bring the cream to a boil, then pour it over the chocolate in a bowl and let stand for 5 minutes.
- Gently stir until smooth. Whisk together eggs, vanilla, and salt in another bowl, then stir into melted chocolate.
- Pour the filling into the cooled crust. Bake until the filling is set about 3 inches from the edge but the center still jiggles, about 25 minutes. It will finish cooking as it cools.
- To make the glaze, bring cream to a boil and remove from heat. Stir in chocolate until smooth.
- Stir in corn syrup, then the warm water Pour the glaze onto the tart, then tilt and rotate the tart so the glaze spreads out to cover the filling. Let stand until the glaze is set.
- To serve, remove the tart from the pan and place it on a serving platter.
- Cut into wedges and serve with berries and lightly sweetened whipped cream if desired.
Notes
Recipe adapted from Epicurious. Some reviews said the crust was very greasy. I did not find that to be true.
Chocolate graham crackers have been hard to find. I finally located Kroger brand at one of their larger stores.

Elajr, I usually buy the Ghirardelli 4 ounce bars I find in our grocery store. Any brand of semi sweet chocolate will work, but I wouldn’t use chocolate chips. I hope your husband enjoys it! Mine did ๐
I’d love to make this for my husband’s bday on Sunday. What brand of chocolate should I buy? Thanks.
Amanda, thank you for letting me know you’re trying this one out! Fingers crossed it works perfectly!!!! Merry Christmas!
Mine is in the oven! Not sure if I can wait until the festivities tomorrow to try it. ;). Thanks for the super easy and beautiful desert recipe!

I love love love the decorations you put on this beautiful tart. I can’t eat strawberries (allergic) but it would be just as pretty with raspberries or anything other super cute fruit. I think I’m going to make this for my holiday party!
I can always count on you Lizzy to post some of the most elegant as well as tasty desserts! I am sure with the luncheons and your baking group-there is a lot of people enjoying your goodies. Based on that your yummy desserts are probably the talk of the town. As usual, I enjoyed this post! Have a great day!
Ok, first off, “those few who go for citrus over chocolate”??? Few? Consider yourself raspberried. I think there are many more than just a few of us out there, thankyouverymuch.
That being said, producing these kinds of desserts is what makes non-chocolate people so badly wish they liked it more. It looks amazing. Absolutely freakin’ amazing.
why am I not surprised that this was the first one to disappear ๐ It’s a miracle you managed to take it there without your family stealing it from the fridge ๐
Aw! I know the feeling – my son is in 8th this year and headed to high school next year. It kind of feels like the end of an era… I might have a pretty long face if I had to watch that get given away as well!
YUM! This looks perfect!
Looks pretty and yummy as always!!

Your dessert must make it to a bakery… you are so wasting your talent, and its an honor to have you post for us, and I sooooo appreciate it! ๐ Happy Holidays Lizzy! Cant wait to see next years… this year was amazing with you!
luscious!
OH MY WORD! this looks like a cracker of a dessert! WOW – those teachers are lucky. It is funny cause I just posted something I made as a gift for my kids teachers. It is not as gorgeous looking as this, that is for sure.
Beautiful pics and presentation. This looks sooo rich and delicious ๐
OMG! What a decadent, beautiful, luscious dessert Lizzy! There really is no better combo than chocolate, whipped cream, and strawberries. Amazing!
xoxo,
Tammy <3
What a loss for the school and I’m sure they’ll be feeling it especially at the buffet next year. Lots of love Lizzy in your food and it shows.
How do you manage to make such a neat tart? I make tarts so often and the crust looks always terribly messy… I love chocolate tarts and I’m sure with chocolate crust and strawberries yours must taste heavenly.
