Skillet S’mores Dip
An easy, decadent summer dessert, this Skillet S’mores Dip will delight the kid in you! An easy interactive dessert that feeds your inner child!
This is the perfect way to enjoy all the flavors of the classic s’mores recipe when there’s no campfire!
Skillet S’mores Dip
I’d seen recipes for this sort of dip floating around the Internet—mostly composed of just a bag of chocolate chips and some larger or jumbo marshmallows. I decided to make a ganache instead, adding just one more step to an already easy peasy recipe.
So cream and chocolate were melted together in a skillet, followed by a layer of marshmallows that were toasted with a short stint under the broiler. Graham crackers were used as dippers for the classic s’mores experience. My gang all gave their seal of approval.
Fourth of July Treat
I shared this s’mores dip with my neighbors on the 4th of July. Some spooned the dip on their crackers, others used two graham crackers to make a more traditional s’mores sandwich.
Truly a classic American summer treat whether you toast your marshmallows over a campfire or broil them to a golden brown. I gently reheated the leftovers in the oven and the boys hovered over the skillet with spoons. Nick, after some deep thought, surmised that this dip was even better than regular s’mores. I call that a success!
How to Make this Easy S’Mores Dip Recipe
This will be the easiest treat in your repertoire! Minimal ingredients and maximum decadence!
- Decide whether you want milk chocolate or semisweet chocolate ganache for the base of your dip.
- This recipe uses chocolate chips for ease of availability, but you can always 12 ounces of chocolate bars, like Ghirardelli, for even smoother ganache.
- I like using the microwave as an easy way to melt the chocolate and cream. Make sure to use short time increments, stirring between stopping and restarting.
- A cast iron skillet is fun for presentation, but you can make this in a pie plate, too. Just make sure your dish is safe under the broiler.
- I used a 10-inch diameter skillet, but anything close to that size will work. Your dip will be thinner or thicker depending on whether you use a bigger or smaller vessel.
- Top the ganache with marshmallows. Broil carefully to brown and soften the marshmallows. PRO-Tip: Watch very carefully so you do not burn the topping.
- I like serving with graham crackers broken down into the small rectangles for perfect dipping, but other cookies will work well, too! Think fudge sticks, vanilla wafers, Biscoff cookies, etc.
If you see typos or omissions, blame it on little Miss Izzy. She’s 3 1/2 months old and keeps me on my toes all.day.long!!

Little Miss Izzy is adorable. I love keeping up with you on instagram. she is getting so big already. Is she easy to potty train? I bet she loves hanging out with you in the kitchen… I love these quick and easy smores that you can do without a fire as that is a bit difficult here in HK. Wishing you a super weekend.
Hi Liz, we have a chocolate and before that a black lab, they are the best dogs when you get past the puppy stage. They are like kids the as they are so adorable when they are puppies that you put up with them until the are their best when they are older. One of my best friend has a yellow lab and she does hospice, when she puts the vest on she turns into super dog, otherwise she is quite crazy. My daughter was here and left yesterday we wanted smores, wish I had looked at this sooner.
I pinned this cute boy:)) I put in my board so cute:)))
Love these s’mores look beautiful!
ANd Iadore your puppy, cute!!!!! I want one please:))
I saw this dip floating around the net too, and was in awe. I had kind of forgotten about making it until you posted this. Yours look just as good, if not better and love that you shared it on the 4th July too. Can’t think of a better traditional (with a modern twist) to share.
Can’t wait to try this now. Pinning…
I’m afraid if I made this, I’d claim the entire skillet for myself!
Now that is what I call a dip! Spoon or cracker it doesn’t matter I know I would be happy with a pan of this around 😀
Liz! Oh my GOSH. I have neglected your blog for so long (i.e. everyone’s blogs, blech) and now I come by and this is the first ADORABLE thing that pops up. I love Izzy so much! I love seeing her on my FB feed, it makes my day 🙂 I think I must have also pinned your s’mores dip this week because I remember seeing it 🙂 hope you have a lovely, lovely weekend!
Cutest puppy! And great recipe such a great idea to make it as a dip and great move on going the ganache route!

Why not add” not Why don’t add”…….
Only you, Liz, could add real “class” to S’mores by going all French with the ganache. Ms. Clara, age 12, and her Mom, just walked in my door last night from California, and I am thinking this might be a great reward after that 14-hour drive. We’re already making ice cream today so why don’t add to the Sugar Fest with this on Saturday? About that dog, he’s adorable.
This is my kind of dip!
How delightful to have such a gorgeous looking dog keep you on your toes! I am minding a dog for a friend at the moment, Barnaby who’s as black as the ace of spades and very difficult to photograph as you know, and he is incredibly needy. He follows me around all day long, tripping me up as I walk and then when I go to sit down at the computer he jumps onto my lap preventing any action. And then there’s bedtime where he constantly jumps up onto our bed much to the disgust of my husband who keep throwing him over the side (and then he runs around and jumps up on my side and the circus continues). So I know what you’re talking about! And I’m so sorry to hear you can’t buy passionfruits! If I could, I would put some in an express post bag and send to you xx
I would approve this dip too 😀
And what a little cutie you have at the end of your post.. 🙂
OMG, Izzy is adorable! Such a pretty girl:@) The dip sounds great and I do have some leftover marshmallows!
This reminds me of BBQ marshmallows, and with chocolate ganache, what’s not to love about this?Gooey, sticky, sweet and yummy!
I want to dive into that dip, the toasted topping is perfection! Love that collage of Miss Izzy, such a cutie! 🙂
