Leek and Potato Soup…French Fridays with Dorie

Another French Friday with Dorie recipe…next up for me was the Leek and Potato Soup.  Our December has been cold and snowy, and a bowl of hot soup with dinner sounded so inviting.  Unfortunately, I found this rather bland…and adding more salt just made it salty.  I chose not to puree the soup (maybe I should have!), and think some extra herbs and even some cream could have improved this dish. The Gruyere croutons were excellent, but I just wasn’t a fan of this recipe…one strike isn’t bad, since I’ve loved everything else from Around My French Table.  I’m looking forward to next week!

  1. Bacon…what a great idea! Thanks, Steph.

  2. We loved this, but I added corn and cheese. I also made it smooth, because I found it too thin when it was chunky. BAcon would definitely be a nice touch!

  3. Cheese and corn…mmmmmm….thanks for the ideas, franklyentertaining!

  4. I love your pictures. The spiraling circles on the leeks are gorgeous. How original!

  5. Thanks, Renee…such sweet comment 🙂

  6. Sorry you didn’t like this. I love potato soup but I think pureeing it may add a bit more richness. This will be my next recipe.

  7. I’m thinking so, too, Kathy. Looking forward to your review!

  8. Thank you, Bibberche…on to the next recipe!

  9. Thanks, Patti!
