That Skinny Chick Can Bake
Sunday Supper Celebration! I'm honored to be hosting the Sunday Supper's virtual anniversary party. It's been two fun-filled years of wonderful recipes and camaraderie. We're all reflecting on our favorite moments over the past year. Hands down, mine was meeting up in person with many of the friends I've made in this group. First, at the IFBC in Seattle, I was thrilled to meet Alice of Hip Foodie Mom, Nancy of Gotta Get Baked, Linda of The Urban Mrs, and Megan of I Run For Wine. Then in November, I gathered with Kim of Cravings of a Lunatic, Lauren of Heathy.Delicous, Angie of Big Bear's Wife, and Courtney of Neighborhoodfood at another food blogger's conference, Mixed, near Pembroke, Virginia. These gals were as wonderful as you'd imagine...we were instant friends. I hope to meet more Sunday Supper members in 2014!

Blog Anniversary Giveaway

Giveaway has now ended. The winner has been contacted and we’re waiting on her reply before making an official announcement.

My dear blogger friend, Kim, of Cravings of a Lunatic, and I both have blog anniversaries this month. I will celebrate the 4th anniversary of my first post on March 14th, 2010, and Kim’s third anniversary was on March 2. I think we were instant friends after Kim’s first hilarious comment on my blog…and we’ve gotten a chance to hang out at 3 blog conferences with a couple more in the near future. She has a wicked sense of humor, as well as an excellent head for business. Blogging has brought so many new friends into my life, many from across the globe.

My first post was extremely short…and had a whopping two comments:

I grew up with a fabulous cook for a mother…but she didn’t bake often. The two desserts that stand out in my memory are an unappetizing apple pie with the peels left on the slices (ugh), and an incredible baklava soaked with orange flower water infused syrup. Living in Ames, Iowa, the sweet, flaky baklava was very exotic…and I immediately fell in love.

Our kitchen was chock full of cookbooks and recipe cards. I discovered the red and white checked Better Homes and Gardens cookbook and set out making beginner desserts for our family. I was complimented and encouraged, and that’s where my love of baking blossomed…

A group of our mutual friends is joining in to celebrate our Double Blog Anniversary, and one of you can win either an Amazon or Visa gift card. All you have to do is post a comment on what you’d buy if you won. Plus, you can increase your chance to win by following us on numerous social media sites. Just get yourself a slice of something chocolate ( I suggest this Chocolate Mousse Torte), sit down and follow the Rafflecopter prompts below to enter.
