Mozzarella, Tomato and Strawberry Salad
A gorgeous Caprese salad with the addition of berries makes a lovely addition to your spring menu. This Mozzarella, Tomato and Strawberry Salad with its striking colors is as irresistible as it looks!
Mozzarella, Tomato and Strawberry Salad
Due to the wacky spring weather, our local strawberry season was barely a week long…so I made this salad when these tiny beauties were at their peak. We were having company for dinner, so instead of slicing a fresh mozzarella ball, I purchased the smaller bocconcini….and made a composed salad versus plating individually. I served this beautiful salad of berries, grape tomatoes, and mozzarella on a bed of baby spinach…and whipped up a simple vinaigrette with balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil. A dusting of fleur de sel, crushed pink peppercorns and shredded basil finished it off.
Spring Twist on a Caprese Salad
group is void of any of my children!). Next time I will make a more flavorful dressing…adding some mustard and a pinch of sugar…but there will be a next time.

I love using those bocconcini in salads & on pizzas. I’m intrigued by the flavor combination of tomatoes and strawberries. I’ll have to give that one a shot.
Hi Lizzy! Its good to be back. I’ve missed the cooking, the challenges and the FF community. Beautiful picture.
This sounds so bright and flavorful. I love caprese salads, but I have never had them with strawberries. I will have to try this asap!
Yum! Caprese Salad is one of my favorites – and your photos were absolutely stunning! I’ve buzzed it!
i keep seeing this type of salad for the last couple of days. The more I see, the more tempting it sounds 🙂
Yours look great Lizzy!
Colorful and refreshing! Great photos. Thanks!
Tomato and strawberry are such a great idea to mix together, I’m going to try it soon 🙂
Three of my favorite salad ingredients are used in this recipe, tomato, mozzarella and strawberries… Really perfect for summer!!
I wouldn’t have thought to put in strawberries! It’s a beautiful salad. We found a wonderful pint of local berries at the Broad Ripple market yesterday. Can’t wait to fix something with them tonight 🙂 xo Kate
Hi Lizzy, I just came across your lovely blog. Your strawberry salad looks so fresh and tasty – what a wonderful take on the classic mozzarella and tomato pairing. 🙂
It looks gorgeous! I never would have thought to put strawberries in a caprese salad!
Beautiful salad! Love that you used the smaller bocconcini balls, they go so perfectly with the little cherry tomatoes 🙂
What a lovely combination! Great summer salad and just the kind of salad I love.
What a perfect summer salad – can’t wait to try this one!

Your photos are beautiful as always and love the symmetry in your presentation! Incredibly cute and so appealing!
How creative to add the strawberries. This is such a pretty and delicious and healthy salad. Perfect for hot summer days!
Your salad is stunning, salad is one food that I will not forget to eat I always have it every meal, I really search for different kind and I make one.
The bocconcini works perfectly with the strawberries and tomatoes – the salad looks beautiful on the bed of spinach. Making a vinaigrette is a nice variation, too.
Love this idea Lizzy…. your salad looks healthy and beautiful ..
Amazing salad! I love that you used strawberries… I seldom make any “exotic” salads as I am the only one eating them… sigh. But this is a must try for when I have friends over! Great idea!
Love all that basil…now I wish I’d added more, and I like your idea for a more flavorful dressing. Thanks for the ideas.
This is so beautiful. The mozzarella just looks perfect and the strawberries have such color.
I just bought mozzarella, and was planning to make a salad with tomatoes. Now I will also add a strawberry dressing 🙂
It seems that we wait a whole year for strawberries to make an appearance, and they regale us with mere weeks of their presence:) Your berries look divine, just the way they should. I bought mine at the farmers market, and they brought me back to my childhood when all the strawberries were sweet and ripe:)
Great-looking salad! I love the idea of making it composed, and spinach is a wonderful addition:)
So beautiful! I would eat that several nights of the week!
Short strawberry season… is that why my plants are barely producing? 🙁 Beautiful salad though, with my favorite ingredients!
Beautiful job on your salad, looks perfect to serve a big group and the spinach is a great idea 😉
Liz I love this combination for a salad! It has all of my favorite summer items in it! Not to mention it is beautiful with the red berries and tomatoes and greens! I will have to try it out! Hope you have a wonderful weekend :)!
Beautiful! This is a great variation on a Caprese salad- I bet the strawberries give it a nice sweetness. Don’t you just love those mozzarella balls? 🙂
What a pretty salad! That bed of basil just looks so delicious! Have a great weekend!
I love how it’s all mixed together with everything the same size. So colorful. Nice job. I hope your guests enjoyed it.
Beautiful salad, Lizzy! So pretty with the greens and bocconcini! Great job! Enjoy your week-end!
Thanks for popping over and posting a comment to us today. This salad looks so wonderful. I wish I still had my fresh picked strawberries. I was noticing from your profile that your mother used to deep fry Rosettes at the holidays. That was a holiday treat in my Russian/German grandmother’s kitchen too!
Lizzy, this is so pretty! I just made a similar one, minus the baby spinach, but I look forward to adding it next time I make it. I used loads of basil (I’ve been using our basil in just about everything lately)…also made a similar salad with watermelon. I love the freshness of summer! Your photo’s are gorgeous, as always!
Mozzarella and strawberries are so interesting combo of flavours for me! I’ll have to give it a try 🙂
So colorful, and refreshing, Lizzy! I love the combination of the fruits, cheese, and tomatoes, especially on a bed of baby spinach.
What a fabulous and pretty looking salad!
xoxo
I love the bocconcini! When it comes to fresh mozzarella, I usually do not know when to stop Your red and white napkin is so pretty! I need to get more red in my kitchen.
It’s never occurred to me to add strawberries to this salad before. Great idea! Got m thinking about other fruits I could try….
I love a tomato and mozzarella salad, but I would never have thought to add strawberries!
What an interesting flavor combination. I had a caprese salad on the menu, but I am thinking of picking up some strawberries!
Looks wonderful, Lizzy!
Beautiful salad… and such lucky dinner guests! 🙂
Only one week long! That is enough to make me cry. Glad you took the opportunity to make this beautiful salad.
Beautiful color and flavor….lovely salad.
I love the way all these ingredients come together for the most refreshing and tasty salad! The colors are beautiful and the strawberry addition is so unique!
Really pretty, with the use of bocconcini, and I like the idea of a little spinach underneath.
The spinach and strawberries in this mozzarella salad really make it different!
Oh Lizzy – one of my favorite things to eat in the summer is a saald like this. Love that you put it on spinach. Mmmmmmm
Those bocconcini are delightful and delicious, aren’t they 🙂
Your plating is beautiful!
Looks like pretty unusual combination! But colors are great! Remind me of Christmas.. 🙂
I loved the colors in this salad! It makes me wish strawberry season lasted another few months…
I have tried this one with the bocconcini & it is fun to get that little pop of cheese! Very nice.
I loved this dish and will definitely be making it again soon. In Paris 🙂 Where I used to eat it often. It not only tasted good but brought back fab memories.
Gorgeous!
Love the look of the boccocini in this salad!
I actually went to a supermarket to look for this kind of mozzarella today (I didn’t know the name but I knew what I was looking for), but couldn’t find it. The one I went is little bit high end supermarket, hoping that they should carry this…but I couldn’t find. It’s in the same cheese section, right? I probably need to pay more attention next time… This salad looks great! Adding strawberries is a wonderful twist!
This is my sons favorite snack as a child and now, he loves the caprese salads… What a great photo, you really got some great color here! Those strawberries are perfect taste to go along with this after all tomato is a fruit or vegetable right? lol take care my dear great post!
This salad looks so fresh and delicious! I would love to be a guest at your house if this is what you’re serving 😉
I love the little mozzarella balls – pretty pictures!
this is nice! I will try it next year when we have strawberries in season!
What a simply elegant salad Lizzy! I love the bocconcini, keeping everything bite-size. It is like a caprese with class.
