Cinnamon Buns, E-Cookbook Review and Giveaway~

by Liz Berg on April 18, 2012

One of my fabulous blogger friends, Katherine of Katherine Martinelli, just published an e-cookbook (how hip is that???) with 10 delicious brunch and breakfast recipes featuring puff pastry. Katherine, a former New Yorker now living in Israel, is a food and travel writer, photographer and now a cookbook author!  When she asked me to review her new release, of course, I jumped at the chance.

The recipes range from Spinach and Feta Bourekas to Strawberry-Rhubarb Turnovers to Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict.  But it was the Cinnamon Buns with Cream Cheese Icing that drew me in first.

Starting with a good puff pastry is imperative…both Trader Joe’s brand and Dufour (found at Whole Foods) are two of my favorites.  The resulting buns were flaky and buttery; and a huge bonus is that these can be on your table in less than an hour.  Katie, my pickiest taste tester, adored these…in fact, she wanted to eat the last 3 herself.  Bill still preferred the classic yeast roll, but that didn’t stop him from eating his share.  This recipe can be found on Beth Michelle’s blog, where she’s also done a book review.

And the best part of this post is that Katherine has given TWO of my followers a chance to win one of these splendid e-cookbooks.  All you have to do is comment on this post and indicate you’d like to be entered in the drawing for the cookbooks.  The winner will be selected at 5 PM on April 24th. You must leave an e-mail address…if I can’t contact you, I will have to select another winner.

And if you are too impatient to wait for the drawing, you can own one of these by ordering via Amazon or Barnes and Noble….click here for the links. For only $2.99, it’s a lot of bang for your buck!!!!

Disclaimer:  I was provided a copy of Puff Pastry at Brunch free of charge to review. All the opinions, though, are my own.
