Dorie’s onion biscuits were a quick and easy side dish for our chili supper. Finely chopped onions were sauteed in butter, then added to a typical biscuit mixture. I added some shredded cheddar to some of mine, too…just because cheese makes everything taste better!
These were flaky and wonderful. Hubby wasn’t so thrilled with the oniony taste (good grief, I finally got the man to eat nuts and now the onion is a problem?), but these would make fantastic biscuits even without them.
This recipe can be found in Around My French Table as well as on Amazon’s website.

So jealous of these Liz – sigh! Happy weekend!
these look wonderful!
I really like the rustic looks of these! They have that great quality of toasty on the outside and fluffy on the inside.Cheese and onion are the perfect way to flavor these too. Your hubby is getting spoiled and picky. I am sure a plate of beans for dinner for a week will change that-ha!

You’ve achieved such an impressive and attractive texture on these biscuits! These look absolutely scrumptious…
The onions sound so good. Great biscuit.
Sorry your husband didn’t care for them. They look great, though!
I love onion-flavoured bread, but I’ve never thought of adding actual onions – I’ve always opted for seasoning. Such a shame your husband didn’t go a bundle on them – I would have gobbled them up! Have a great weekend!
Husbands can be so finicky! I think the biscuits sound marvelous. And look at how tall and pretty they are!!
Husbands do get to be very picky sometimes! They look fantastic!
Well you are so right about cheese! Liz your biscuits have so much lift and fluff! Who wouldn’t love these? (Aside from Bill!) I need to practice more with these I guess so I can make them like this.
I have never heard of onion biscuits, but it sounds like an excellent idea. I would also say everything tastes better with onion

Totally my taste. I see a bowl of creamy soup, a big salad and a basket full of these! I won’t need anything else…except dessert, of course
Oh boy, Lizzy…now I know why you are a “skinny chick!” You “run circles” around me and a lot of other bloggers, popping out one dish, desserts, after another, while I’m still pondering how to put my next post together…and then do a long “song and dance story”…ugh! I can just kick myself for not making stuff every day; well, partly, because I’m very cautious.
Now, I’ve embarked again on another dangerous FOOD indulgence, the weekend started!
I love the rustic look of your yummy Dorie biscuits, the crunchiness on the outside, yet flaky and melt-in-your mouth goodness. Also, your Vanilla Bean Gelato…love, the recipe, and the creaminess of this gelato, and not the heavy ice cream (not commenting separately)
Have a beautiful weekend my dear friend!
xoxo

Man, Lizzy, I thought my husband was a picky eater, but yours is worse. These are perfect to go with chili, especially with a splash of cheese.
Come to think of it, I am not sure if I’ve tried biscuits with onion in it. I like onions but wonder how the taste is like all together. I love this look of Biscuits – flaky check, crunchy on top check… Looks WONDERFUL Lizzy!

Saint-Germain-des-Prés is one of my favourite areas in Paris, and these biscuits look like they are from one of the many bakeries! I love onion and cheese, so what ever hubby doesn’t eat, pass it on over!
Onion – every good savory recipe should somehow start w/ that…!
These onion biscuits sound so intriguing! I love the way they look too – yum!
