Vanilla Macarons with Ganache Filling~Guest post on Bromography

by Liz Berg on August 6, 2011

It was a “mad” sort of day.  I was assembling a Death by Chocolate Cake for my book club that night.  A cake that contains 44 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate and is composed of 6 different components which together form a magnificent dessert.  BUT the egg whites I’d been saving in the refrigerator for my first attempt at macarons were aged perfectly…and I was taking my youngest on a college visit out of town the next day.  What’s a girl to do?

You’ll have to visit my guest post on Bromography to see the what happened~

If you’d like to make your own delectable, melt in your mouth macarons, which I highly recommend, please buy a copy of Jill Colonna’s Mad About Macarons….or borrow mine…but not for too long!

We are off on yet another vacation this week…visiting relatives on both sides of the family.  I’m limiting my posts…and will catch up with all of you upon our return!  xoxo

I have never made macaroons, this post inspires me to attempt. I didn’t realise its better to age the egg whites for 4-5 days. So a good macaroon does require many days planning in advance, unfortunately the end result disappears faster than the speed of light!

I still haven’t managed to try my hand at macaroons, but when I do, vanilla w/ganache is a perfect flavor combo. One of these days I’ll get around to it.

These are GORGEOUS…I’ll admit it: macarons intimidate the heck outta me! I love to eat them, but worry that our crazy Texas humidity would cause them to come out all sorts of wonky!!

I saw your comment on my blog, so I had to stop by! I have been dying to bake macarons, but I haven’t gotten the nerve to do it! I’m determined to do it by Christmas time. Love your blog, I’ll check back again, and thanks for the love :)

Gorgeous macarons, Lizzy! I made my first batch a couple of weeks ago, and while the macarons came out really well, I botched up the filling and was left with soggy macarons… Yours look picture perfect! Beautiful, really… I’m sure Jill would be proud :) And I totally agree, Jill’s book is a must-have! Heading over to your guest post now :)

I really must make these amazing macarons. So far this has to be the most favorite of mine…vanilla, with chocolate ganache. The book is so beautiful, I’m so happy I won it, now if I can only learn how to make them, I would really be happy!
The last time I comment to you Lizzy, when you went on your vacation! Hope you’re enjoying your family from both sides.
