Our family goes crazy for fresh peaches in the summer…we first get the delicious imports from Georgia, next the local crop, and by the end of the summer, we enjoy the juicy Michigan varieties. I freeze as many as I can with some Fruit Fresh and sugar…and use them all winter for pies and crisps. I still had a a couple bags in the freezer and the unseasonable heat made ice cream an obvious destination for some of our favorite fruit.
This creamy ice cream had a slight tang from the sour cream, but it worked perfectly with the sweet, summer peaches. Next time, I may use David’s method of cooking the peaches first to intensify the peach flavor.

Sounds so refreshing, interesting to find sour cream in the recipe haven’t tried that before bet it makes a perfect creamy balance.
So perfect for the summer – love the idea of cooking them first.

Such an easy recipe for a delicious ice cream! I bet the sweetness of the peaches was even better with the hint of lemon and sour cream! Yum! Saved (my folder is getting bigger)!!!
I wish our peach season was longer. Your ice cream looks wonderful!
Nothing beats homemade ice cream. This recipe sounds perfect for summer. I think this would go perfectly for when we grill peaches rather than using plain ol’ vanilla ice cream. Yummy!

Lucy,
This sounds fabulous Lizzy! I love fresh peaches for summer…this recipe is definitely on my list of things to try! I especially love that no ice creamer maker is needed!

I spent a good part of summers as a child with my grandparents in Arkansas and the highlight was the arrival of the first local peaches. For my grandfather, finding the best is an annual crusade. So, peaches always remind me of those wonderful summers. I love anything peach and I love sour cream. This recipe sounds perfect!
The very very good news is that I JUST bought an ice cream maker!! Whoo hoo! I bookmarked this – I can’t wait to try!

The Perfect Scoop is my go-to book for making ice cream. Your scoops look so perfect. I may need to show restraint and put my ice cream in the freezer to harden a bit after making it.
Peach is my all-time favorite ice cream. Yours looks so creamy and I love the idea of the sour cream with a slight tang. Thanks for sharing.
Looks great – I love the idea of sour cream! I make an ice-cream where you steep the pits and peels in custard then make the ice-cream and add peaches.
This looks delicious. So excited to get my ice creamer maker this week and try this out.
Peach ice cream sounds very refreshing and delicious!

This looks amazing! Peach ice cream on a hot summer days seems like heaven. I love the recipe. I just bought and ice cream maker and I have to try this out when I get some more peaches. Great Job! : )
I just had an “aha” moment while reading this post Lizzy. All of our children are adults now and I’ve stopped putting away fruits and veggies thinking there was no need. However, the Mr. and I are still eating and loving fruits and veggies more than ever. Sometimes you can’t see the forest for the trees. If you can put away peaches for later on and use some for this super yummy ice cream, so can I. Thanks for the inspiration.
