Broccoli with Garlic and Lemon Zest~
This is one of those no-recipe recipes…the family actually requests this one if I haven’t made it in a while. Easy and flavorful, it makes the week day menu quite frequently.
Broccoli with Garlic and Lemon Zest~
3-4 heads of broccoli, cut into florets
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
Zest of one lemon
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon kosher salt (adjust if using less than 4 heads)
Steam broccoli till bright green and slightly underdone, 4-5 minutes. Set aside.
Heat butter and olive oil in large sauce pan. Add zest, garlic and salt and saute till garlic becomes fragrant and starts to brown slightly. Add broccoli and toss to coat. Continue cooking till broccoli is cooked to desired consistency.

Hi Lizzy! I love your no recipe recipes because I wouldn’t even think about eating broccoli this way! I love any idea to eat vegetables so we don’t get tired of the same recipes. Thank you! I really like lemon, so it’s a perfect way to eat veggies for me!
I already love broccoli with garlic and that lemon zest sounds like it would really pep up the flavor even more.
This sounds so good! You can’t beat a dish when the family requests it over and over! I definitely have to try this then. The flavor combination sounds great too! Yum!
delicious way to have broccoli
I love no-recipe recipes. 🙂 This looks great, Lizzy!
broccoli is my fav. vegetable! mmmm.. looks amazing!
Yes, I’ve made it with chicken broth, red pepper flakes and freshly grater Parm…yummy that way, too!
Thanks, everyone~
I love steamed broccoli, the garlic is a nice touch I’ve never thought of adding. Have you ever sprinkled fresh grated Parmesan cheese over your broccoli? It’s good!
Simple and yet delicious! My kids like broccoli a lot, so I think I will give your recipe a try soon.
Mmmmm, this is the one veggie I crave (but I admit that it has to be somewhat mushy for me to eat it). I like the addition of the lemon zest and will have to try it.
To me broccoli is one vegetable that doesn’t need very much done to it…I usually just throw it in the oven with a little olive oil and roast it…This would be a nice change.
Great way to dress up broccoli. Very ‘yum’ worthy 🙂
Broccoli is my absolute favorite vegetable and I’m always looking for new recipes. This sounds amazing. I can’t wait to try it out! 🙂
