Basque Potato Tortilla….French Fridays with Dorie
I was intrigued by this frittata-like dish selected for this week’s cook along from Dorie Greenspan’s Around My French Table. I’m pretty basic with my egg dishes…mushrooms, spinach, and cheese being about as exotic as I get. I know…boring. Still, this egg dish with potatoes, garlic, onion plus a hint of rosemary and cayenne sounded fabulous. And it wasn’t slated for breakfast, but instead for lunch with a salad or as an hors d’oeuvre.
Dorie offers a few bonne idees…and they are all appealing: onion and herb, mushroom or spinach and green onion. I made her original recipe…and it was a keeper!! Bill had a slice for dinner and asked if he could have it again for breakfast~

I’m glad you liked it – it looks so pretty! I think if I had added cheese all would be right with the world …
I love the gorgeous photo essay, but where in the heck did that very fresh rosemary come from?!
Thanks, Kudos, Trix and Kelly. My rosemary is buried under snow and ice, unfortunately, so thank goodness the grocery store came to the rescue
The photos are really beautiful and I love that perfect level of browning you got on your tortilla!
Looks great! I liked this one too!
Thank you, French Friday friends
I’m impressed that your tortilla held it’s shape. I’m still learning the technique of flipping the tortilla so it remains in one piece.
I’m thinking non-stick pan next time…it took 4 spatulas and 2 people to remove mine in one piece
Thanks for stopping by!
Your pictures are great. The rosemary makes them look so artistic.
Aw, thanks, Ms. Hobby!
Lovely pictures!!! Can’t tell there was a sticking issue at all!!
Wow, your pics are great. They almost make me want to make it again…
Thanks for the encouraging words on my first FFwD post. I look forward to more cooking as part of this fun food adventure.
That looks so elegant and with all those potatoes and eggs, it’s got to be extremely delicious. That’s my kind of comfort food.
Thanks, friends!!! So nice to wake up to such nice comments! On to this week’s tart…what version are you all making????
That last photo is absolutely stunning!

Beautiful styling as always, Liz.
LOL, Carole…I can’t believe you haven’t caved yet
Your tortilla looks exactly like mine:) I just did not have the time to write about it, so you have to trust me:)
We liked it, but I think that next time I will add something else, just to push it into an awesome dish. Thanks for sharing!
