Beef Daube…French Fridays with Dorie

My Go-To Beef Daube…French Fridays with Dorie

Seriously, this recipe trumps Julia’s boeuf bourguignon as my favorite beef stew!  Fabulously delicious.  It’s amazing to taste the magic that happens when chunks of beef are simmered in wine for a few hours…the transformation is unbelievable.  The garlic, carrots, parsnips, herbs and touch of cognac infuse their marvelous subtleties resulting in a perfect dish.  A marvelous dinner during this bitterly cold streak…I hope you’ll pick up Dorie Greenspan’s new book, Around My French Table, and give it a try.

Here is the recipe.

Agreed! This was a huge hit at my house, as well. In fact, my dinner guest got a hold of my copy of Around My French Table and requested it for Christmas! I was only too happy to oblige!

Cheers,
Karla

It triumphs Julia Childs Beef Bourguignon?!?!? It’s been so on my list to make. LOL, prior to FFWD I’d had quite a long list since I just kept reading and listing and not so much with the cooking. I can not wait to make the Beef Daube! Thanks for the insight!

Although it looks wonderful, I’d have to adapt it as that much garlic would kill me! LOL

Your stew looks good enough to eat! I actually made this last night for company (and for posting next week) and I agree…better than Julia’s!

Thanks, Good Bite In…I thought it was pretty, too. I should have removed the bouquet garni which ended up in my son’s bowl…he asked whether he was supposed to eat the meshy stuff…LOL.
